Description

Job Responsibilities

  • Behavioral Support: Develop and implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) in collaboration with teachers, counselors, and other school staff to address students' behavioral needs.
  • Student Engagement: Work directly with students to promote positive behavior, social skills, and emotional regulation through evidence-based strategies and interventions.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Monitor and document student progress, collecting data on behavioral incidents and intervention outcomes to adjust strategies as needed.
  • Collaboration: Partner with teachers, administrators, parents, and external specialists to ensure consistent support for students and alignment with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) or 504 Plans.
  • Crisis Intervention: Respond to behavioral crises with de-escalation techniques, ensuring student and staff safety while maintaining a calm and supportive environment.
  • Training and Support: Provide guidance and training to school staff on behavior management techniques and strategies to support students with diverse needs.
  • Program Development: Contribute to the development and refinement of the district’s behavior intervention programs, ensuring alignment with best practices and district goals.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, special education, social work, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children or adolescents in an educational, clinical, or behavioral support setting.
  • Certifications: Certification in behavior analysis (e.g., BCBA, BCaBA) or crisis intervention training (e.g., CPI, Safety-Care) is highly desirable.
  • Skills:
  • Strong understanding of behavior management techniques and positive behavioral interventions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with students, staff, and families.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations.
  • Proficiency in data collection and analysis to track student progress.
  • Other Requirements: Must pass a background check and meet all state and district requirements for working in a school setting.
